For Donna and David Douglas, working together at our Worsley Alumina operation has been more than a career change, it’s provided opportunities to build new skills, balance work and life and contribute to the team in a meaningful way.
The couple, who joined the Worsley Alumina team after careers including nursing and hospitality, quickly found their place in the production team as haul truck operators.
“We came in completely green but from the very first day, we felt welcomed, supported, and part of the team,” said Donna.
“The support we’ve received to learn, and grow has been incredible. It’s a place where everyone has the chance to contribute and succeed,” added David.
Working on the same crew, Donna and David value the opportunity to share shifts and time off, which allows them to enjoy life together outside of work. “It’s ideal for us,” Donna explained. “We’re supported as individuals, as a team and as a couple.”
Now, Donna and David are sharing their knowledge by helping train new operators.
“It’s rewarding to see new starters grow in confidence,” David said. “We’ve both come a long way and enjoy being part of something bigger.”
