GEMCO has joined forces with the local community to clean-up the beach
Employees from our GEMCO operation on Groote Eylandt have joined forces with the local community to collect marine litter from the shores of Six Mile Beach.
More than 100 people took part in the inaugural Groote Eylandt Beach Clean Up Day, collecting micro plastics, bottles, fishing lines, lures and other discarded items.
The clean-up effort is an initiative of the Anindilyakwa Land and Sea Rangers, with support from the Yantarrnga Traditional Owners and South32, to help promote a sustainable environment.
