Leading the way for women

We’re always looking to increase the diversity and inclusiveness of our workplaces.

With a focus on ensuring that we move towards more balanced gender representation and ethnically diverse teams, we’re delighted to have more and more women working in what used to be male-dominated areas of our operations.

Marllelys Palencia is an example of the empowerment of women at our Cerro Matoso operation.  

After studying Building Construction at Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje, an institution which offers training in activities which benefit the country’s social, economic and technological development, Marllelys has become the first woman to be employed in Cerro Matoso’s refractory area.

“We have to demonstrate that women are capable,” said Marllelys who describes her current work environment at Cerro Matoso as both “supportive” and “attentive”.

Libya Guevara López was born at Montelíbano and has been working at Cerro Matoso for six years. Having worked in a number of different areas and demonstrating her ability as a valuable member of the team, Libya has also broken new ground by becoming the first woman to be employed in the central control room.
