Meet Joey, an Operator at our GEMCO operation
Meet Joey, an Operator in the Legacy Team at our GEMCO operation on Groote Eylandt, Australia.
Established three years ago, the Legacy Team provides pathways for local Indigenous residents on Groote Eylandt to acquire skills that support our mine operations and will be needed for many years to come.
Starting his career 10 years ago in the Mobile Workshop, Joey is responsible for fixing mechanical faults with machinery and uses his knowledge across departments to easily track down hard to find parts.
Keeping it in the family, he is joined in the Legacy Team by his son Harrison and sons-in-law Nehemiah and Shadrack, whilst another son-in-law Jethro is in the Rehabilitation Team.
Joey says he is proud of the work he does and sees himself continuing as a member of the Legacy Team for years to come.
