South32 supports industry response to the SBTi’s recent Scope 3 discussion paper

In December 2024, South32 joined with several mining and metals companies in welcoming the Science Based Targets Initiative’s (SBTi) recent discussion paper on Scope 3 emissions, Aligning Corporate Value Chains to Global Climate Goals, and its decision to explore and potentially update its approach.

In addition to South32, the group of companies responding to the SBTi paper included Anglo American, BHP, Fortescue and Rio Tinto.
